About Coaching

So, are you ready to find your flow?

Coaching is a partnership or collaboration to help you resolve whatever issue is bringing you to this website. Through this guided self-discovery and self-action, you can uncover or reconnect with your authentic self, your inherent values and your core strengths. This process facilitates you moving in a direction that is meaningful for you and which is sustainable because it is aligned with your natural way of being.

How does it work?

Together we will explore your potentials (and there are more many!) so that you can reaffirm what you already know while discovering strengths and traits which you may have only glimpsed up to now.

To ensure sustainable change, I will listen to both your spoken and unspoken communication, be curious, wonder out loud, interrupt gently, probe and challenge. But you will always be your own guiding force as you enlarge your thinking and experience your own power to move forward without the shackles of the ‘oughts’, ‘shoulds’ or self-doubt which may have bound you up to now.

Common Issues

What kind of issues are covered in Coaching?

Whatever you need to discuss. For some, coaching is about establishing clear goals and working towards them. For others, coaching is valued as a space to consider thoughts and feelings while allowing time for reflection and meaning-making.

If you’re here then you have something you want to talk about. Your issues might be feeling stuck, feeling bored, having ambitions but not being sure how to achieve them, looking for fulfillment, feeling bullied – the possibilities are endless. What you want from coaching, and what coaching can be for you, can be discussed in a complimentary chemistry session.

What is a chemistry session?

The chemistry session allows you to choose to engage and to what extent. This choosing is important as we need to be comfortable working together. When your expectations and our mutual responsibilities are clear, we can begin to structure our working relationship towards trust, mutual respect and beneficial change.

How can I be sure coaching will be effective?

The effectiveness of coaching depends on how prepared or able you are to be open, be curious, reflect on yourself, be willing to become somatically aware and imagine a life that has meaning for you. Of course, it is also necessary for you to take actions to move your life forward – and you have already taken the first step by reading this!

What if change is not happening?

Sometimes you may find that you struggle to make things happen for you. In such a case we can discuss the ‘blockages’ and, if appropriate, reschedule to undertake a process of psychotherapy for a period. This will always be done by agreement and, because the nature and objectives of the two processes are quite different, clear boundaries between both will be maintained.

How can psychotherapy enhance coaching?

The combination of psychotherapy followed by executive coaching is the ultimate combination to remodel your life. By first exploring your unique conscious and unconscious experiences, you can loosen the grip of the old ‘ways’ (see About Therapy). Renewed understanding and empowerment then provides the perfect springboard for the life that works best for you.
