About Therapy

Now that you’re here, I need to tell you…

You’re not the only one.

We all experience times in our lives when things are not ‘ok’. We can experience this in many ways such as through anxiety or depression or through feeling ashamed, stuck, overwhelmed, worthless, or even suicidal. During Covid-19, these feelings can get even worse and seem overwhelming. If this is you, you are not the only one—and things can get better.

You didn’t choose this.

To help us cope, we often develop habits which give us short-term relief. Unfortunately, they can become entrenched and make the situation even worse. We may end up overeating or not eating enough, drinking too much, gambling, taking drugs, becoming fixated on porn, shopping compulsively, self-harming, having difficulty sleeping, and so on. We don’t mean for things to get out of hand, but they often do.

It’s not all caused by you either.

Many times our present day experiences have their roots in past traumas, adverse experiences in childhood, or family dysfunction. None of us exist in a vacuum, so whatever has happened in our past contributes to our current lives in a significant way. At the same time, we are all unique individuals, so we also bring our own ‘way of being’ into the mix. All of these factors come together to influence the life we are experiencing today.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

I know from personal experience that whatever the symptom or cause, we often need help to begin to feel better. Personal therapy allows us to explore what is happening now and how we can move forward. Research has shown that a therapeutic environment that is warm, trustworthy, and non-judgmental is necessary for change to occur. I aim to provide you with this and am here to support you.

Now, it’s your turn.

Picking up the phone may feel uncomfortable, but it could be so worthwhile. Get in touch to discuss what’s bothering you and let’s see where we go from there. Remember, struggling is not failing. Don’t let your situation drag on any longer. The sooner you call, the sooner things can change!
